The Land Use, Water, and Environment Policy Advisory Group (PAG) drives ADF’s policy development and advocacy around natural resources and the impacts of dairy farming on the environment.

The PAG’s scope includes policy areas supporting appropriate land use by renewables, water policy, and the environment.

Key functions of the PAG include developing strategies to promote dairy industry sustainability, address environmental risks, and build long term strategies that support the immediate and long-term needs of dairy farmers.

Scope

  • Land use – including renewable energy infrastructure and regulation

  • National water policy – including the Murray Darling Basin Plan

  • Environment – inlcuding climate change and emmisions reduction

  • Energy – Including development, use and efficiency

  • Carbon policy

Priorities

  • National water management, including the delivery of the Murray Darling Basin Plan and buybacks, water infrastructure and federal regulation

  • Land use and access

  • Environmental regulation impacts, native vegetation laws, biodiversity, and nature repair at federal levels.

  • On-farm energy strategy, access to renewables, battery/storage, energy efficiency and grid access.

  • Emissions reduction, dairy-specific targets, emissions accounting methods, and low-carbon farming opportunities
